SUPPORT!

Join the Ride!

More riders will add visibility to our campaign for safe routes, especially in urban and suburban areas that are our campaign targets.  Equally important, we would love company and moral support as we attempt to ride over 5,000 miles.  See the Route+Schedule page for information about when we will be in your region.  Contact us at rideforsaferoutes@gmail.com for details on joining us.

But you don’t have to bike across the country to add your support to the campaign for safe streets…

Safe Routes to School National Partnership

The Safe Routes to School National Partnership’s mission is to advocate for safe walking and bicycling to and from schools, and in daily life, to improve the health and well-being of America’s children and to foster the creation of livable, sustainable communities. Launched in August 2005, the Safe Routes to School National Partnership is a fast-growing network of hundreds of organizations, government agencies and professional groups working to set goals, share best practices, leverage infrastructure and program funding, and advance policy change to help agencies that implement Safe Routes to School programs.

In 2007, the SRTS National Partnership initiated the State Network Project to establish SRTS networks in nine states and the District of Columbia. The project brings together stakeholders from diverse fields to work with state Departments of Transportation to increase physical activity in students, to make the best use of available federal SRTS funds, and to remove policy barriers to walking and bicycling to schools.

The League of American Bicyclists

The mission of the League of American Bicyclists is to promote bicycling for fun, fitness and transportation and work through advocacy and education for a bicycle-friendly America. The League does this by representing the interests of the nation's 57 million cyclists. With a current membership of 300,000 affiliated cyclists, including 25,000 individuals and 700 affiliated organizations, the League works to bring better bicycling to your community.

Bicycle Friendly America Program

The League of American Bicyclists is changing the look of America with the Bicycle Friendly State, Bicycle Friendly Community and Bicycle Friendly Business Programs. The League is doing this by encouraging states, communities and businesses to provide better facilities, encouragement activities, infrastructure and education for cyclists and publicly rewarding them for doing so.
